Netaji Subhas University of Technology (formerly NSIT) has been organizing its annual cultural fest Moksha since 2003, March. One of the most significant cultural festivals of North India, NSIT Moksha has exceeded the expectations every time with its splendor and enthusiasm. The three-day extravaganza is full of contagious excitement, vibrant colors, and liveliness.
Furthermore, NSUT Moksha has been a perfect showcase of creativity mixed with technical backgrounds and is a host of a variety of events such as street dancing, music competitions, the battle of bands, theatre shows, fashion parade, rock shows, and the most anticipated of all, the Star Night. Moksha fest in Delhi is an experience of the multitudes of human emotion and imagination.
History- NSUT Moksha
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, a brilliant mastermind, a natural leader, and a passionate freedom fighter has always been the source of inspiration for many. With his motivational speeches and talks, he reawakens the patriot in us whenever we come across his words. Named after this great leader, Netaji Subhas University of Technology (erstwhile NSIT), is situated in the heart of Dwarka in over an area of 125 acres.
Since its inception, NSUT Moksha has undergone a massive change both culturally and in magnitude since its beginning. With a footfall of over 60,000, the fest has witnessed participation from 100+ colleges. It is widely covered by both digital and print media. The fame of the fest can be determined by the fact that MTV was its Media Partner with VJ Gaelyn covering the events.
Over the years, the NSUT moksha fest has seen many profound artists such as Pakistani Band Jal, Zaeden, Nucleya, DJ Makasi of Tomorrowland fame, Nina & Malika, Kailash Kher, Shaan, Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan, Bohemia, and Monali Thakur on the Star Night, making the crowd sway with their music. The fact that Nucleya performed his first-ever college gig in India at Moksha Delhi only iterates the greatness of the event.
Concept
The festival portrays a culture mixed with mathematics, science blended with beauty, and electrical waves resonating with musical tunes. Moksha is a spectrum of philosophy, scientific notations, dance, music, colors, craziness, and fun. It is a meeting point of events from different fields such as music, dance, theatre, and literature. In addition, the NSUT Moksha fest is also the host of several informal events further adding sparkles to the 3-day extravaganza.

Moksha’21 – A Virtual Affair
Due to the pandemic, Moksha NSUT 2021 became a virtual reality as the university made sure that in these uncertain times the students get to enjoy their fest from the comfort of their homes. Singers Vivek Singh and Jass Matharu performed live through Instagram live and rocked the audience at Moksha. Famous motivational speaker and NSUT alumni Aman Dhattarwal also addressed the students with his encouraging words at Moksha NSUT 2021.
Moksha’19 – The Retro Extravaganza
Join the fest from March 14-16, 2019 to witness yet another spectacular event, as NSUT Moksha presents before you it’s first ever cultural fest after becoming a university. This year is set to be all grand and extraordinary.
This year they go back to the ’70s and to lose themselves in the golden era of gramophones, bell-bottom jeans, vinyl records, flying dupattas, and classic melodies. Enter the retro world and experience one of the most memorable nights, with three-set goals, Entertainment! Entertainment! and, Entertainment!
Moksha’18 – Horn OK Please
This year’s theme “Horn OK Please,” took inspiration from the Indian street culture. As the street culture is rapidly growing in India, especially in Delhi, Moksha adopted this theme and held various fun events. One of the highlights among these was the Harley Davidson bike parade on the college campus. This went on to become one of the most sought-after events with a never-ending crowd.
On the Comedy night, famous stand-up Sumit Anand came and delivered a fantastic comedy set in front of a jam-packed crowd. The DJ night starred Simon5, Carnivore, and Ravator, all famous for their amazing skills on the stage. Project Yugm also performed in Moksha, which is a folk fusion band, and mesmerized all of us with their beautiful music. For the much-awaited Star Night, famous Bollywood singer Monali Thakur stepped onto the stage and sang her way to our hearts.
Moksha’17 – Mythological Mirage
Organized on the lines of Mythological Mirage. There were varieties of events held, including every kind of entertainment that one could ask for in Moksha 2017. From “Rouge” the fashion show, to “Oorja” the dance competition. This year the fest had a Punjabi nite, Bollywood night, and a DJ night. An entertaining act by Jasleen Royal for Punjabi Nite left the NSIT crowd mesmerized by the magic of her nightingale voice.
The following day, Nizam Brothers performed on the Bollywood nite and set the stage on fire. On the last day, Sunburn famous, DJ NDS stepped onto the stage and rocked the DJ nite.
Moksha’16 – Memory Marmalade
Shri Manish Sisodia, the then Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, inaugurated Moksha fest in Delhi. The three-day event kicked-off with Soch – the street play event. The highlight of the next day was Dhwani – the music competition which struck a resonance with the crowd. Some other events were Rouge the fashion Parade, Mudra – the choreography event, and so on.
International artists like DJ Makasi of Tomorrowland fame were roped in from Belgium, DJ duo Electrovertz was also present. The well-known comedian, Abish Matthew had everyone in splits with his daring brand of humor. This grand event of Moksha Delhi couldn’t have ended better with anyone other than Shaan. His music touched the crowd’s hearts and the beautiful night came to a glorious end.
Moksha’15 – Spectrum of Symphonies
This year NSIT’s Moksha’15 was a star-filled affair with big names like Sachin Jigar performing on stage for Fahrenheit (the final night). They also had international artists from Israel and Hungary energizing the crowd. Funny bones ticked by TVF had all rolling out, laughing. VH1 Supersonic, known for its adrenaline rush, had DJ Nucleya and DJ Aceaxe on the grounds making everyone dance all night long on those fantastic beats. The cherry on top was Edward Maya, the star of the Star Nite, the superstar who won our hearts with his music.
Moksha’14
The Star Nite was bedazzled by Romanian Dance Pop act of Akcent at Moksha 2014. Advaita Band and DJ Lloyd also entertained the crowd to replace Amit Trivedi for the night. Team Moksha welcomed Advaita, a Delhi based, rock and fusion band, with the bursting of fireworks in the sky. Advaita fused in Indian classical with western rock music. Their songs accompanied beats of the tabla and notes of a sarangi, along with the usual acoustic guitar and keyboard. Next, DJ Lloyd spun his dance numbers changing the Sufi mood of Advaita’s to party mode. DJ Lloyd made up well for Amit’s absence.
