The festival of Chaitra Navratri spans nine days and is dedicated to the worship of Maa Durga and her nine incarnations. Devotees believe that during Navratri, Maa Durga manifests and bestows her blessings upon her followers, visiting them with her divine presence. This festival commemorates the birth of Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Celebrated typically in March-April, on the 9th day of the first month of the Hindu calendar, it honors the ascent of Lord Rama to the throne of Ayodhya. Renowned for His virtuous qualities, Lord Rama is revered during this auspicious occasion.
As the ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony begins in Ayodhya Ram Mandir, marking the consecration of the idol of Lord Ram, a spiritual environment surrounds the holy city. Commencing with religious rituals, the seven-day ceremony is a culmination of devoted practices, led by eleven priests invoking various deities. Scheduled to conclude on January 22, the ceremony will witness the presence of Prime Minister Modi, who will address the gathering of around 8,000 guests.
The sanctum sanctorum will be accessible to only a select few, adding an air of exclusivity to this sacred event. ‘Prayaschita’ and ‘Karmamukti Poojan’ took place on January 16. The remaining rituals like ‘Teerth Poojan’, ‘Jal Yatra’, and ‘Gandhadhivas’ will take place in the upcoming days. Temple trust general secretary Champat Rai said the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ will begin at 12.20 pm on January 22 and is expected to end by 1 pm. Here’s a curated playlist of popular Ram bhajans.
