Maroon 5 is a pop-rock band from Los Angeles, California, that formed in 1994. Adam Levine, rhythm guitarist and pianist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick were the founding members. Kara’s Flowers was the name of the band in the beginning. Since then, the lineup has evolved, with just Levine and Carmichael remaining from the initial lineup. Lead guitarist James Valentine, keyboardist PJ Morton, drummer Matt Flynn, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar are among the current lineup’s members.
