TikTok parent company ByteDance is reportedly working on a new music app to challenge streaming giants Spotify and Apple Music. ByteDance filed a trademark application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the music app ‘TikTok Music.’

The app will also offer downloadable mobile applications providing podcast and radio broadcast content.”
However, the launch date for TikTok Music remains unknown.
ByteDance filed for the TikTok Music trademark in Australia in November last year.
Even though TikTok is banned in India for security reasons, ByteDance offers a music streaming app, ‘Resso.’ According to a Business Insider report, Resso’s monthly active users grew by 304 percent between January 2021 and January 2022 in India, 38% more than Spotify for the same duration.
Resso gained 40 million users across India, Brazil, and Indonesia until November 2021.
