Diljit Dosanjh set to make Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival debut

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is set to make his debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival from April 14 to 16 and April 21 to 23. Diljit will perform on April 15 and 22.

The headliners of the renowned festival include the K-pop group BLACKPINK, Frank Ocean, and Bad Bunny.

Before Diljit Dosanjh, two musicians of Indian heritage performed at the legendary event. Born in Mumbai, Ritesh D’Souza of the Los Angeles electronic band B.R.E.E.D. performed there in 2015, and in 2022, Indian R&B/dream pop artist Raveena made her Coachella debut.

“Being a native Punjabi artiste, I could’ve never imagined this offer coming my way. I have followed the Coachella festival every year. Honestly, when I accepted their offer last year, it felt like a personal achievement until Sonali (his business manager) told me how people reacted to this news on Wednesday. That’s when it dawned on me that this wasn’t just my success. It’s now an achievement that belongs to everyone here,” Diljit told The Times of India.

“I will sing my Punjabi number for them, like always (laughs). We also listen to songs whose language we don’t understand. It’s about the sounds, and today we all know that sound has no barriers, courtesy of the internet and social media,” the pop star added.

The Pakistani musician Ali Sethi, whose song from Coke Studio, “Pasoori,” has become a viral success, will perform at the festival.

Following the event’s postponement in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the 2018 edition had several artists, including Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd.
