Movie Review: “Article 370”

If you’re into gripping dramas inspired by facts, or real events, “Article 370” is worth your time. This movie, is of two and a half hours, narrates the story of Zooni Haksar, an Intelligence Field Officer. She is assigned a top-secret mission just before the controversial nullifying of the Article 370 in Kashmir.

The film strongly advocates for the abolishment of Article 370. The movie argues that it was necessary for combating terrorism & dismantling the conflict economy in Kashmir. It portrays the decision to revoke the article as justified. The suffering of Kashmiri residents on the collaboration between corrupt local leaders & militants is shown here.

Zooni Haksar, played by Yami Gautam Dhar is reassigned to Delhi after a successful but controversial encounter. As the government moves to scrap Article 370, PMO Secretary Rajeshwari Swaminathan, portrayed by Priyamani, takes charge of the operation. Zooni is tasked with leading an NIA operation in Kashmir, facing obstacles from both corrupt officials and militants.

One of the film’s strengths is the performances of its lead actresses. Yami Gautam delivers a compelling portrayal of Zooni with her determined attitude. Priyamani impresses as the pragmatic PMO Secretary. The supporting cast, including Raj Zutshi, Raj Arun, and Vaibhav Tatwawadi, contributes effectively to the story.

While the first half of the movie builds tension, the climax leans towards melodrama rather than realism. Some plot points, like Zooni resorting to impersonation to access documents, feel unnecessary and contrived.

Conclusion

Overall, “Article 370” is a promising debut from director Aditya Suhas Jambhale. It offers a thought-provoking exploration of a complex issue. The film provides enough substance to keep audiences engaged and leaves a lasting impact.
