The 69th edition of the prestigious Filmfare Awards witnessed a night of glamour, talent, and celebration as Bollywood’s power couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, took center stage by clinching the Best Actor awards for their remarkable performances in Animal and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, respectively.
The star-studded event, hosted by filmmaker-producer Karan Johar, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, and TV host Maniesh Paul, unfolded in Gujarat on Sunday.
Ranbir Kapoor received thunderous applause as he was named the Best Actor in a Leading Role – Male for his portrayal in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film, Animal. Vidhu Vinod Chopra emerged as a big winner, bagging the Best Director award for his biographical drama, 12th Fail, which was also crowned the Best Film of the year. The film triumphed over tough competition from Animal, Jawan, OMG 2, Pathaan, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
In the critics’ category, Devashish Makhija’s thriller, Joram, stood out, winning the award for Best Film (Critics’). Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) received accolades for their outstanding performances, earning them the title of best actors by the critics.
