The iconic romantic-comedy of 1987, ‘Dirty Dancing,’ will mark its 35th anniversary by releasing the soundtrack on Vinyl. Late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey played lead roles as lovers Johnny Castle and Frances’ Baby’ Houseman in ‘Dirty Dancing.’
The rom-com, which became a worldwide blockbuster, raking in $214 million, was the first film to sell more than a million copies.
A unique watermelon-coloured vinyl edition of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ‘Dirty Dancing’ will release on October 14, 2022.
The popularity led to a 2004 prequel, ‘Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,’ while a film sequel will release in 2024.
Erin Westerman, the president of the production at Lionsgate, said: “‘Dirty Dancing’ is more than a movie – it’s a cultural touchstone that continues to be a rite of passage. As we approach the next chapter, we knew we had to honour the depth, the relevance, and the heat of the original. We’ve been lucky to have Jennifer as our guide and are thrilled to have Jonathan by her side at the helm, because everything he makes is textured and romantic – he always gives us goose bumps.”
