MONSTA X’s Hyungwon Embarks on Military Service: Shownu’s Gesture

On November 14, 2023, Hyungwon from MONSTA X commenced his mandatory military service, embarking on basic training at a boot camp. Before entering this new phase, he shared images with fans on social media, capturing the significant moment when MONSTA X’s leader, Shownu, undertook the responsibility of shaving his head. This act not only symbolized a profound connection between the group members and their fans, known as MONBEBEs, but also reflected the strong camaraderie and support within the group as they navigate individual responsibilities and commitments.

Prior to his enlistment, Hyungwon expressed his sentiments to MONBEBEs, stating, “I’ll come back healthy and hope you all stay happy, my MONBEBEs! Till then.”
According to reports from K-media, Hyungwon, the sixth member of MONSTAX to enlist, will be serving in the 3rd Infantry Division, also known as Baek-Gol / White Skull, based in Cheorwon County, north Gangwon Province.

On October 20, Hyungwon shared a heartfelt letter on MONSTA X’s fan cafe, announcing his decision to enlist on November 14. In this personal communication with fans, he explained his thoughts and emotions regarding this significant life event, fostering a moment of connection and transparency between him and the MONBEBEs.

In his letter, Hyungwon expressed, “Even though I’m the one MONBEBE worries about whenever the wind blows, my aim is to come back as a resilient and dependable person who can face any challenges that come our way.” He thanked MONBEBEs for their support and conveyed his love, promising to return as someone who can reciprocate the love even more.

Hyungwon’s discharge date is set for May 13, and he eagerly anticipates reuniting with MONBEBEs the next day. The announcement of his military enlistment prompted an outpouring of support from MONSTA X’s fans on social media, showcasing their encouragement for Hyungwon’s service.
