Delta Goodrem was born in Sydney, Australia, on November 9, 1984. The song ‘Delta Lady’ inspired her parents, Denis and Lea, to name her Delta. Other than her parents, Delta Goodrem’s family includes her younger brother, Trent, who plays football. She attended Hills Grammar School until she was 11 years old. At seven years old, she began singing, dancing and acting lessons, and performed in an advertisement for Galoob Toy Company. She went on to do many other commercials. In addition, she has had a number of roles in successful Australian TV series such as ‘Police Rescue,’ and ‘A Country Practice’.
At age 15, Delta Goodrem signed a Sony recording agreement based on some early demos, and recorded a full album’s worth of pop songs. Following the failure of her 2001 debut single, “I Don’t Care,” Goodrem went back to acting and reevaluated her musical ambitions. Her next single, “Born to Try,” was launched during her time on the soap opera Neighbours. The track was a huge hit, getting the #1 spot on the ARIA singles chart and making everyone excited for her album. Upon its release in March 2003, Innocent Eyes immediately reached the #1 spot and remained there for twenty-nine weeks, providing as many as 5 number one singles.
