Taylor Swift announces release date for ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ albumĀ

Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift thrilled fans during the closing show of her six-city ‘Eras’ tour at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on Wednesday night by revealing the artwork for her highly anticipated album ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version).’ Swift also dropped the bombshell that the re-recorded album, one of her personal favorites, is set to release on its ninth anniversary, October 27, 2023.

Taking to Instagram to share the exciting news, Swift wrote, “Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you soon!” The original ‘1989’ album significantly departed from Swift’s country-infused sound, embracing an 80s pop vibe that resonated with audiences worldwide.

The album holds a special place in Swift’s heart, as she explained: “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”Ā

Dispute with former Record Label

Swift’s decision to re-record her first six albums stems from her desire to regain control over her music following a masters dispute with her former record label, Big Machine Records. Notably, she has already released re-recorded versions of ‘Fearless,’ ‘Red,’ and ‘Speak Now.’

Addressing her devoted fanbase, known as Swifties, the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer expressed her commitment to nurturing the special bond she shares with them. During one of the shows of ‘The Eras Tour,’ Taylor affirmed, “I go through this process where I feel things, I write a song about that thing, I show it to you, and I go, ‘Do you like it? Did you ever feel this way too?’ And so, when you guys are at a show if you even nod your head or make eye contact with me or sing the words to a song during a show, that validates that emotion and makes me feel like I wasn’t alone in feeling it. It’s sort of my coping process in life ā€” so all of a sudden, that was gone.”

As anticipation builds for the release of ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version),’ fans can look forward to experiencing Swift’s evolution and creative reinterpretation of her iconic album later this fall.
