Stray Kids cancel Global Citizen Festival performance following car accident

According to an official announcement from the group’s agency, three members of the popular K-pop group Stray Kids found themselves in a minor car accident on Wednesday. While the accident resulted in no serious injuries, the members involved, namely Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin, have been advised to cancel or postpone their upcoming work commitments temporarily.

Consequently, the full eight-member lineup of Stray Kids will be absent from their scheduled performance at the highly anticipated Global Citizen Festival in New York this Saturday. However, fans can still look forward to a thrilling show as 3Racha, a side project featuring Stray Kids members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, operating under the names CB97, SpearB, and J.One, will step in to fill the vacant slot.

The Global Citizen Festival boasts a star-studded lineup, including renowned acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lauryn Hill, BTS member Jung Kook, Anitta, Conan Gray, D-Nice, and Sofia Carson.

The agency, JYPE, provided a detailed account of the incident in a statement, saying, “While returning to their dorms after a schedule on September 20th (Wednesday), the vehicle carrying Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin was involved in a minor collision.”

“Following the minor collision,” the statement continues, “Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin promptly sought medical attention at a hospital, where they underwent a comprehensive medical examination. Fortunately, none of the members or accompanying staff in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. However, they have reported experiencing mild muscle pain and bruises, leading medical professionals to recommend conservative treatment for the time being.”

The statement concludes with an apology to fans for the sudden news and a commitment to prioritize the artists’ health above all else. JYPE pledged to offer unwavering support for the members’ recovery.

Stray Kids, known for their musical prowess and energetic performances, achieved their third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart in June with “5 Star.” This accomplishment followed the successful releases of “Maxident” and “Oddinary,” both of which made waves in the music industry last year.

The K-pop sensation’s fans will undoubtedly be relieved to hear that the members are safe and receiving medical care. While Stray Kids’ absence from the Global Citizen Festival is regrettable, the fans can look forward to a special performance by 3Racha and continue to support their favorite group on their journey to recovery.
