Olivia Rodrigo cancels promo run in Australia due to unforeseen circumstances

In an unexpected turn of events, pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has canceled her promotional activities in Australia, disappointing her fans Down Under. The ‘Vampire’ hitmaker was scheduled to host a Q+A session with her fans in Sydney on September 22 and engage in various media activities. However, due to undisclosed “unforeseen circumstances,” the artist has had to withdraw from these commitments.

A spokesperson for Universal Music Australia expressed Olivia’s disappointment, stating, “Olivia is devastated that she won’t be able to make it. However, she’s so excited to see her Australian Livies [fans] in 2024.”

Despite the setback, Olivia Rodrigo has recently expanded her ‘GUTS’ world tour, adding 18 new dates for 2024. While Australian dates have yet to be confirmed, the statement suggests that there may be a change in the tour itinerary.

The 20-year-old singer’s ambitious tour is set to kick off in Palm Springs, California, in February 2024. Notably, Olivia will be joined on the road by a lineup of talented artists, including The Breeders, Chappell Roan, Remi Wolf, and PinkPantheress.

Olivia Rodrigo’s critically acclaimed second album was crafted with a tour in mind. She shared her intentions during an interview with Capital FM, saying, “I think there’s a lot of fun songs. I wrote the album with a tour in mind, so I think they’re all songs I wanted people to be able to scream in a crowd. Hopefully, that’s what’s achieved.”

In addition to her music career, Olivia Rodrigo has been making waves for her impact on the perception of “teenage girl music.” The Grammy-winning artist is thrilled to see her songs about childhood heartbreak resonating with a broader audience, including older listeners.

Reflecting on this positive shift, she shared her excitement, saying, “I’m really excited by the way that people are getting behind artists that normally would be deemed for young people. It’s just such a cool thing to see that we’re all so much more alike than we are different. I think people are starting to take teenage girl music a little more seriously, which I’m really happy about.”

While Olivia’s Australian fans will have to wait longer to see her in action, her global fan base eagerly anticipates her upcoming tour and continued musical success.
