In the interview, Missy Elliott revealed that from an early age, she had always aspired to become a “superstar,” but she never wavered in her pursuit of that dream. “I never changed. I said it every time,” she affirmed.

The four-time Grammy Award winner also conveyed how deeply honored she feels about her selection as an inductee alongside fellow music legends such as Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, and The Spinners. She described her emotions, saying, “Words cannot describe how I feel right now.”

Actress and rapper Queen Latifah, a longtime friend of Missy Elliott, will have the honor of introducing the groundbreaking artist during the induction ceremony. Missy Elliott spoke warmly about Queen Latifah’s influence, remarking, “She’s somebody that, like I said, ‘came before me, opened that door, left it open.’ And I owe so many flowers, bouquets. It’s not enough bouquets for those women that came before me. And she’s one of those women.”

In a touching moment, Missy Elliott shared that her mother will attend the event, a first for her. She admitted, “She’s never been to a show because, you know, I had some little words I didn’t ever want her to hear. And so she’s comin’ for the first time.”

The highly anticipated Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be broadcast live from Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center, where music history will be celebrated and Missy Elliott’s groundbreaking contributions to the industry will be recognized.

Missy Elliott’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career and in the history of rap and hip-hop music. It reflects her enduring impact on the music industry and her trailblazing role as a female rapper and innovator.
