Popular playback singer KK died shortly after his live performance in Kolkata on Tuesday night. KK was 53. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
Krishnakumar Kunnath, his real name, suffered a heart attack in his hotel room shortly after the concert and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
KK had performed in back-to-back shows in Kolkata in the past two days and was to perform again on Wednesday.
KK’s wife Jyothi, their son Nakul Krishna Kunnath and daughter Tamara Kunnath are expected to reach Kolkata on Wednesday.
The eminent singer released his first album ‘Pal,’ in 1999 and gave several hits in Bollywood, including ‘Tadap Tadap’ from the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
He also recorded songs in several languages, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati.
