Jennie of BLACKPINK Makes History on Billboard Hot 100 with ‘One of the Girls’

In a groundbreaking achievement for K-pop, Jennie Blackpink has soared to new heights on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with her latest hit, “One of the Girls.” The song, a collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp for The Idol series soundtrack, has secured the impressive 69th position, marking the highest-ever ranking for a female K-pop soloist.

This remarkable feat surpasses the previous record held by her bandmate, Rosé, whose “On The Ground” debuted at No. 70. Jennie’s ascent to No. 69 cements her legacy as the top-charting K-pop soloist on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100, underlining her enduring impact on the genre.

Jennie Blackpink’s success is not confined to the Billboard charts alone. Towards the end of the previous year, she exceeded the peak monthly listeners of NewJeans on Spotify and now boasts an extraordinary milestone of 30.83 million monthly listeners on the platform. This achievement places her ahead of the immensely popular BTS, who currently have 30.75 million listeners, solidifying Jennie’s status as a force to be reckoned with in the global music scene.

It’s noteworthy that Jennie Blackpink has accomplished these milestones despite having released only three songs under her name, namely “Solo,” “You & Me,” and the recent hit, “One of the Girls.” The absence of a solo album further emphasizes the impact of her individual releases.

Beyond her musical prowess, Jennie has been a trailblazer in various fields. A member of BLACKPINK since their debut in 2016, she made her solo debut with “SOLO” in 2018. In 2021, she showcased her versatility by debuting as a fashion editor in Vogue Korea’s March issue. Later, in July 2022, she was announced as part of the HBO drama series “The Idol,” alongside industry heavyweights like The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, and Debby Ryan.

Closing the year on a high note, on December 24, 2023, Jennie Blackpink established her own agency, OA (ODD ATELIER). While YG Entertainment will continue to manage her group activities with BLACKPINK, OA will handle her solo endeavors, reflecting her evolving role in the entertainment industry.

Jennie Blackpink’s achievements not only celebrate her individual success but also underline the global impact of K-pop, solidifying its place in the mainstream music scene. As she continues to break records and redefine expectations, fans eagerly anticipate what the future holds for this trailblazing K-pop sensation.
