The pop star took to Instagram to address rumours of her teaming up with artists like Charli XCX and writer Julia Michaels for an undisclosed project.
Responding to reports circulating on Page Six, Spears expressed her unequivocal stance on a potential comeback, declaring, “I will never return to the music industry.” The singer’s Instagram post featured the Italian Renaissance painting “Salome Bearing the Head of St. John the Baptist,” serving as a backdrop to her resolute statement.
Refuting claims that she is actively working on a new album, Spears clarified, “They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … When I write, I write for fun, or I write for other people!” She went on to share insights into her songwriting activities, revealing that she has penned over 20 songs for other artists in the past two years.
While the nature of her collaboration with Julia Michaels remains unknown, the two have previously worked together. Michaels is credited as a writer on Spears’ song “Slumber Party,” featured on her last studio album, “Glory” (2016). Spears referred to herself as a “ghostwriter,” indicating her preference for contributing to projects without attaching her name.
