American singer Billie Eilish will be hosting a 6-day climate crisis event, Overheated, in London this summer. The climate-control event will be held at the famous O2 Arena in London from June 10-12, 16, 25, and 26.
The event is named after a song from Eilish’s 2021 album Happier Than Ever.
The six-day event will bring together a host of climate justice activists such as Vanessa Nakate from Uganda, Destiny Boka Betesa, Dominique Palmer, Maggie Baird, and many other notable personalities.
Eilish has consistently pushed for action taken to prevent climate change. The singer has backed Music Declares Emergency U.S., a U.S. chapter of an existing European initiative. Music Declares Emergency U.S. consists of Arcade Fire, Annie Lennox, Tom Odell, and Bon Iver.
”The climate crisis is the greatest challenge of our time, and the power of music should take its place at the forefront of this important movement to create a safer, fairer, more sustainable world. The climate crisis is about science, not politics,” a joint statement by the group.
Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever tour has its Eco-Village. The tour features a pre-recorded message from Baird.
“I know that you know that Billie and her whole family are very concerned about climate change, and I know you are too. By taking a pledge to eat at least one plant-based meal a day for 30 days, you will help save the planet,” Baird says in a pre-recorded message.
