Italian indie-rock outfit Used To Be Apes return with You Are No Saint, their latest single now available on all streaming platforms. The track blends lush melodies, nostalgic textures, and modern indie influences, drawing inspiration from The Beatles and Electric Light Orchestra while weaving elements of art rock, power pop, and classic 70s album rock into its sound.

Lyrically, You Are No Saint reflects on self-awareness, human fallibility, and the illusion of independence, taking inspiration from John Donne’s poem No Man Is an Island. “It’s about realizing that no one thrives alone—we all need connection, whether in life or music,” the band explains. The result is a captivating, dreamy ballad that balances introspection with soaring harmonies and an immersive atmosphere.
The release also introduces a new phase for Used To Be Apes, as they officially welcome guitarist Riff to the band. Now a four-piece with Alessandro (vocals, bass), Francesco (guitar), Mattia (drums), and Riff (guitar), the band embraces a richer, more dynamic sound, enhancing both their recorded work and live performances.
