As we journey through the years, let’s dive into the evolution of this iconic festival, as we countdown to Sunburn Goa 2024, a celebration that promises to be its most spectacular edition yet!

The Birth of a Legacy

It all started in 2007 when Sunburn made its electrifying debut in Goa. What started as a modest gathering with just two stages quickly transformed into an epic phenomenon. With the legendary Carl Cox and Above & Beyond headlining, the festival drew thousands of passionate fans who danced through the night, basking in the vibrant energy of the Goan sun.

Goa taking centre stage

Sunburn’s rise was nothing short of meteoric. As its stages multiplied, so did the energy, fueled by a growing roster of world-class artists. From the dazzling ‘Electric Circus’ theme in 2008 to the launch of Sunburn Arena, India’s premier EDM intellectual property and the groundbreaking Sunburn City Festivals in 2011, Sunburn became synonymous with unparalleled EDM experiences. Armin Van Buuren’s explosive set in 2009 and the star-studded 2012 lineup featuring legends like Sander Van Doorn and Fedde Le Grand were just the beginning.

By 2013, Sunburn had found its new home in Vagator, creating an iconic festival backdrop with sweeping views of the Arabian Sea. The festival exploded to seven stages, hosting over 120 artists and drawing fans from every corner of the globe. The 2014 edition, headlined by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Knife Party, was an unforgettable spectacle of lights, sound and pure, unadulterated euphoria. By 2015, Sunburn had firmly planted its flag on the global festival map, earning its reputation as one of Asia’s largest and most exhilarating music festivals.

The Post-Pandemic Rebirth

After the global pause, Sunburn Goa 2022 made a roaring comeback, embracing the fitting theme ‘The Future Is Now’. Welcoming 300,000 ecstatic festival-goers, the event was a futuristic marvel. The centerpiece? A jaw-dropping 95-foot-high CyberPunk City Main Stage, a technological wonder that became the heartbeat of the festival. This colossal stage hosted top-tier artists like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Lost Frequencies and NERVO, each delivering pulsating performances that left the crowd spellbound. With five other massive stages, the festival was a true playground of lights, sounds and high spirits – a futuristic fiesta like no other!

A Year of Firsts

For the first time ever, the festival was headlined by a female powerhouse, Charlotte De Witte, who electrified the crowd with her signature techno beats, leaving festival-goers in awe. Sunburn also unveiled the Indo Warehouse stage, a vibrant celebration of South Asian-inspired house and techno, showcasing the festival’s dynamic and inclusive evolution. At the heart of it all stood the ‘Enchanted Forest’ themed main stage, a towering 100-foot marvel, draped in mythical designs and brought to life with mind-blowing pyrotechnics.

An Underwater Wonderland

As we eagerly await Sunburn 2024, the excitement is already electric! Set against the stunning shores of South Goa from December 28th to 30th, the 2024 edition, themed ‘Underwater Wonderland’, is poised to surpass all expectations!
