‘The Six Chapters’ is the forthcoming EP from UK’s Master of Mischief, a collection of six tracks set to be released throughout the year along with six music videos. The songs and videos tell a loose narrative per ‘chapter’, with themes of betrayal, pain, resentment and evil demons -metaphorical and otherwise!
First chapter ‘Fake Friends & Real Enemies’ (out 14th February) is a racy mix of guitar driven alternative music combined with dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass, the electronic elements and gritty vocals creating a dark yet uplifting vibe that sets the tone for the rest of the EP to come.
Branded as “electronic music for emo edgelords”, Master of Mischief is a new dark electronic music project ran by an unknown masked individual hailing from “somewhere in the UK”. The project launched with debut EP ‘Tales of the Twisted Prince’ in October 2024 and blends the genres of industrial, electro, synthwave, techno, dubstep and EDM with the melodic elements of emo and alternative music to create a dark, mysterious yet infectious atmosphere with a mix of vocal hooks, rhythmic beats, intense drops and catchy synths.
Speaking about the project as a whole, Master of Mischief said: “I actually don’t take myself super seriously, but my friends always take the piss out of me for being ‘edgy’ cause I just love all those dark vibes and I’m a bit of an antisocial rebel. I love storytelling too, so there’s a bit of a story behind everything I do even if it’s not apparent or needed for people to enjoy the music. But I would like to make people think a bit, to make them question the status quo, the humdrum normality and dullness of every day life, make them want to rise above society’s constraints, expectations and monotony. This is fun yet dark music for the outcasts, the weirdos, the ones who don’t fit into a bracket and don’t want to, the ones who don’t think like everyone else and aren’t afraid to say it and speak about it. That’s why I say it’s electronic music for emo edgelords.”
