After a two-year hiatus from the spotlight, Lewis Capaldi makes his deeply personal and powerful return with “Survive”, a stirring new single out now via UMG.
Written during a turbulent chapter in Capaldi’s journey, “Survive” is a raw, emotional anthem that lays bare his struggles with self-doubt and mental health—culminating in an explosive chorus of resilience:
“I swear to God I’ll survive, if it kills me to / I’m gonna get up and try, if it’s the last thing I’ll do.”
Produced in collaboration with long-time partner Romans—who also co-wrote the global megahit “Someone You Loved”—the track marks a bold new era for Capaldi and a statement of strength in vulnerability.
The single arrives after his moving performance at Glastonbury 2023, where fans lifted an emotional Capaldi to the finish line in a unifying Pyramid Stage moment that resonated worldwide.
The accompanying video, directed by Henry Dockrill (Sam Fender, Post Malone), is available now.
A Career Defined by Impact and Connection
“Survive” follows Capaldi’s second studio album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which debuted at #1 in the UK, spawning three chart-topping singles—“Pointless,” “Wish You The Best,” and “Forget Me”—and earning praise from The Guardian, New York Times, Rolling Stone, NME, and more.
Earlier this year, Capaldi’s breakthrough single “Someone You Loved” officially went 10x Platinum, becoming:
- The most streamed song of all time in the UK
- The 4th most streamed song globally
- A #1 single on Billboard, and
- The biggest-selling single of 2019
In April 2023, Capaldi also starred in the Netflix GRAMMY®-nominated documentary, How I’m Feeling Now, a raw, intimate portrait of fame, mental health, and healing that topped global Netflix charts upon release.
Rebuilding With Purpose
In May 2025, Lewis returned to live performance with a string of low-pressure Scottish shows in partnership with mental health charity CALM, celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week. These performances helped him reconnect with his audience and rediscover joy in music.
“Most nights I fear that I’m not enough…”
“…But I swear to God I’ll survive.”
With “Survive,” Lewis Capaldi isn’t just back—he’s evolved, leading with honesty, empathy, and unmistakable soul.
