Drawing on the restless energy and aesthetic grit of ’90s icons like Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, and Veruca Salt, Forgotten Dream reinterprets the grunge ethos for a new era, blending a spirit of rebellion with intimate, introspective storytelling. The album’s origins trace back to 2021, when vocalist and lyricist Maryanne Muse founded the band alongside guitarist Davo and drummer Dani, producing the self-released debut Cotton Candy & Pills in mid-2022. This early work—a blend of psychedelic atmospheres and straightforward rock energy—reflected a band testing its sonic boundaries.
ÂThe addition of bassist Ludo in late 2022 marked a turning point, sharpening Forgotten Dream’s sound into a darker, more cohesive identity. With Distorted Karma, the band channels that shift, shedding ethereal layers for heavy, distorted textures that deliver a visceral punch. Maryanne’s haunting vocals remain central, weaving themes of addiction, fractured love, and existential search into songs that resonate with both vulnerability and defiance.
