After the release of their single Love is a Bitch on June 13, 2025, Italian-Hungarian singer-songwriter Erika Grapes and Italian electronic composer Eugene (Eugenio Valente) present a lyric visualizer on YouTube.
Shot in an urbex location (an abandoned paper mill) in Italy, the visuals were captured by Urbex Nemesis, whose photographs convey expressive, artistic intensity. Later edited to achieve a surreal, dreamlike, and dystopian atmosphere, the images are interwoven with footage of natural disasters—hurricanes, storms—transforming heartbreak into a force of nature.
The centerpiece of the visuals is a dramatic gown by avant-garde stylist Massimo Sabbadin, merging feathers, sequins, and fractured eco-leather in a look that is both sumptuous and industrial. The long dress is worn alternately by Erika and Eugene, symbolizing that in every breakup there are two perspectives—often equally painful, equally human. This symbolic gesture amplifies the song’s emotional duality: fragility versus power, intimacy versus collapse.
Carla Curione, professional make-up and hair artist, crafted looks inspired by new wave, goth, dark wave, and Blitz club aesthetics. Erika cited the English duo Zetra and the film Black Swan as key references. The result is a dark, ritualistic, and evocative appearance that contrasts with the Nine Inch Nails–like intensity of Eugene’s production and Erika’s soulful, Amy Winehouse/Twin Temple-inspired vocals. The outcome is original and deeply moving: a collision of sonic power and visual storytelling. Love is a Bitch is also available on Bandcamp in a special edition titled Toxic Concept, which includes the exclusive unreleased track Toxic.
