Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Eric Roberson returns with “Over You, Under You,” Feat. Najee & Jayshawn Champion the second single from his upcoming 18th studio album, Beautifully All Over The Place, set for worldwide release on July 23rd.
Featuring Najee & Jayshawn Champion, celebrated jazz saxophonist Najee and powerhouse vocalist Jayshawn Champion, the track merges the emotional depth of R&B ballads with the pulse of house music and the soul of jazz. Written and produced by Eric Roberson alongside Rodney Jones (Art of Artez Productions) and Brett “B Dubb” Baker, the track reflects the artist’s signature fusion of genre-bending soundscapes and heartfelt storytelling.
“This is a special song to me. It contains some of my favorite elements in music — tempo, wordplay, collaboration, and funk,” shares Roberson. “Najee and Jayshawn are not only incredible artists but dear friends. We broke the rules and loved every part of it. Lyrically it feels like a ballad, sonically like a jazz record, and rhythmically like a dance track.”
Earlier this year, Eric dropped the album’s infectious lead single “Where You Gonna Go” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid — a neo-soul gem that blends ‘70s soul, Detroit hip-hop, and ¾ gospel undertones. The track, written by Roberson, BJ (Bryan James Sledge), and Rodney Jones, has been praised for its soothing composition and message of emotional resilience.
“It’s inspired by a question I ask myself to help the sunshine even when facing storms,” Roberson says. “The song’s mission is to enhance people’s self-worth and growth.”
Roberson will take both singles on the road with his “Beautifully All Over The Place” tour. For dates and tickets, visit: [Tour Link]
About Eric Roberson
Often dubbed the “Soul Man” of his generation, Eric Roberson is a two-time GRAMMY nominee, revered for his introspective lyrics and genre-defying artistry. From penning hits for Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild to releasing 17 albums independently through his label, Blue Erro Soul Entertainment, Roberson has spent over two decades as a trailblazing figure in the neo-soul and indie R&B landscape.
With accolades including BET’s Underground Artist of the Year, Billboard charting singles, and sold-out tours worldwide, Roberson continues to break boundaries while staying rooted in “Honest Music.” His 2022 LP Lessons and its remix featuring Anthony Hamilton, Raheem DeVaughn, and Kevin Ross became an instant classic, even landing him a surprise performance during the Verzuz battle between Musiq Soulchild and Anthony Hamilton.
Roberson also serves as a former professor at Berklee College of Music and is the creator of The Process — an interactive fan journey into the creation of his music, aimed at preserving the culture of experiencing music deeply and collectively.
