Swedish producer and DJ Claes Rosen finally delivers the long-awaited official release of ‘If This World Were Mine’, a modern, melodic house remake of the 1967 Marvin Gaye classic from his album United. Once a viral bootleg with over 36 million views on YouTube, the track now sees the light of day on streaming platforms, thanks to a meticulous clearance process that began in 2020.
A decade in the making, this emotional reinterpretation fuses Marvin Gaye’s timeless soul with Claes Rosen’s signature serene production, resulting in a track that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new. Crafted with care to honor the essence of the original, Rosen brings a gentle house rhythm and an atmospheric soundscape to elevate Gaye’s legendary vocal.
“This track has been with me for more than 10 years,” says Rosen. “It started as a remix that didn’t work out, but something kept drawing me back to it. When the pandemic hit, the vocals resonated more deeply—the message felt urgent. I turned down offers, spent years in legal back-and-forth, and re-recorded the vocals so I could release a version I fully believe in. It’s one of the most important songs of my career.”
From sunset beach sets to introspective late-night drives, ‘If This World Were Mine’ offers a deeply emotional and melodic listening experience. With its official release, a new wave of fans is expected to discover this already beloved track.
Claes Rosen has built a reputation for his versatility across genres, from melodic house to UK garage, and has been an integral part of the electronic scene for nearly two decades. Whether through his solo work or as part of the acclaimed duo L-WIZ, Rosen continues to leave his mark—also curating music for major platforms like Spotify and producing for global commercial campaigns.
‘If This World Were Mine’ is out now on all major streaming platforms via EMI Sweden.
