2021 MTV EMAs

There was a lot that has happened at 2021 MTV EMAs, Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. They were power-packed and bagged by BTS and Ed Sheeran at the event broadcasted live from the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday (Nov. 14) 2021.

Where BTS won best pop, best K-Pop, best group and biggest fans award, obvious. Ed Sheeran took the best artist and best song for his “Bad Habits.”

Lil Nas X won the best video for “Montero for (Call Me By Your Name).” He was accepted via a cheeky video in which he played as a worker in a fast-food restaurant. The pop star out his video via a funny and imaginative film clip wherein he played an order-filler at a fast-food restaurant, wearing a name tag “Montero”. A customer in the drive-through handed him the award through his car window.

The award show was hosted by Saweetie artists who were conferred with various awards are –

  • BTS
  • Ed Sheeran
  • Lil Nas X
  • Maluma
  • Tylor Swift
  • Kim Petras and others.

Unfortunately, Justin Bieber, who led the field with eight nominations, did not win in any categories. Nor did The Kid LAROI, who had five nominations for his creations. Maybe they are busy in creating some useful stuff lined up in the row.

Saweetie, who hosted the show, won best news (beating Olivia Rodrigo, who at least managed to win best push). This is the sixth consecutive year that a female solo artist has won best new. Saweetie follows Zara Larsson, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Eilish and Doja Cat. Saweetie also performed a medley of her hits “Best Friend,” “Tap In” and “OUT OUT.”

Then Colombian heartthrob Maluma won best Latin and performed his new single “Mama Tetema,” joined by Tanzanian singer Rayvanny. The Italian rock band Måneskin, whose “Beggin’” is charting at the top 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, won the best rock. He also performed “Mammamia.” Followed by YUNGBLUD who won the best alternative and performed at the end of the show with a pyrotechnics-filled performance of his latest single “fleabag.”

Kim Petras made EMAs history as the first trans artist to perform at the show wherein Petras sang a medley of two new unreleased songs, “Coconuts” and “Hit It from the Back. Also, Taylor Swift won as best American act. She accepted a video clip she filmed in New York, recently.
