World Cup Fan Anthem 2019 | SANAM & Global Artists collaborate

Sanam

Popularly known as India’s One Direction, SANAM has collaborated with international artists to celebrate the cricket’s spirit of togetherness with the World Cup fan anthem 2019 Way-O, Way-O for the World Cup 2019.

The band SANAM began their journey to stardom in 2019, with brothers Sanam and Samar Puri (lead vocalist/composer and lyricist/lead guitarist/composer respectively), Venky S (bass guitar), and Keshav Dhanraj (drums/lead music arranger). They rose to fame, predominantly, with #SANAMrenditions of old classic Bollywood songs as well as #SANAMoriginals.

The cricket World CUP fan anthem, Way-O, Way-O, by Uber, is a cultural blend of harmonies written by Sonal Dabral and composed, produced and curated by Michael (Mikey) McCleary. Apart from SANAM, the anthem includes Jahmiel (Jamaica), Catherine Taylor Dawson (United Kingdom), Simba Diallo (New Zealand), and a choir group Khayelitsha United Mambazo (South Africa).

What do the artists say?

“Cricket connects people all around the world and music connects people from every nation.”

Keshav Dhanraj, the chief drummer of the SANAM, said.

Nothing better can describe the current sporting spree flowing worldwide, courtesy ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, 2019.

In an interview with News18, SANAM gave out deets about the making of ICC World Cup 2019 anthem, the fandom connected with cricket, and their message for Team India. Mentioning the project, Sanam Puri told News18 that he had worked with McCleary on several jingles before and that they were thrilled to be a part of the project.

Anthems are usually different with an upsurge of energy and upbeat. Being the first of its kind project for SANAM, and also an international collaboration of this sort, SANAM was extremely kicked about the campaign. And, they also mentioned that everyone recorded in their own country and sent their vocal files to Mikey to be mixed together.

“Sports and music have always evoked strong emotions and helped foster a global spirit of unity and togetherness. I used to play cricket in high school – got to play for the Under-16 or Under-19 national team in Oman (since I studied in Indian High School, Muscat and was also born in Oman). We guys also used to play cricket when we started jamming as a band in Keshav’s garage in Navy Nagar, and we still play cricket when we get the time.”

Samar Puri says.

“Our team this year has amazing versatility, we are looking forward to some close and exciting matches. Cricket is totally unpredictable. Let’s just go out there and enjoy cricket at its best! You have over 135 crore hearts supporting you all no matter what! Let’s have fun!”

Venky S gave out a message for the Indian cricket team.
