Timbaland says Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliot’s new albums to be released soon

Iconic music producer Timbaland has given an update on the new albums of two of his biggest collaborators, Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliot.

Timbaland

Since Justin Timberlake began his solo career in the early 2000s, he has strongly collaborated with Timbaland. Timbaland has produced several of Timberlake’s hit songs, including “Cry Me a River” in 2002, “SexyBack,” “Mirrors,” and others.

“We just finished up, and everything sounds great. Now it’s really on him (Timberlake) how and when he envisions it to come out, but it’s done, and it’s coming,” Timbaland told Variety.

Timberlake’s new album will be his first since 2018’s Man of the Woods.

“It’s fun Justin — it’s like [their 2006 blockbuster collaboration] FutureSex/LoveSounds but nothing too heavy, just giving you what you expect from us,” Timbaland said on new songs of Timberlake.

“Music is a young sport — of course, we’ve both seen a lot of life, but you have to bring out the 13-year-old kid again, you know? We had songs that maybe were too complicated, so we said we want it to feel like FutureSex part two, so we did songs that will fit that,” he added.

Timbaland on working with Missy Elliott’s new album

Meanwhile, Timbaland confirmed he is working with Missy Elliott on her new album and may drop a few songs soon. Missy released her last full album almost 18 years ago.

“We’ve got a lot of songs we’re going to start recording soon, and my dream is to have it out around her birthday in July,” he said.

“I know how Missy works: It’s got to be new and fun – or maybe not so much new as underground, and everything is upbeat.”

Her new album will also have a Latin feel.

“Some of it has a Latin feel to it, almost a Bad Bunny effect, some of its kinda underground Brazilian funk. People gonna eat it up – and it might just reach a different demographic. It’s like her doing…not Reggaeton but Missy-ton,” Timbaland said.
