The Weeknd releases song for ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ soundtrack

The Weeknd releases song for 'Avatar: The Way of Water' soundtrack

The Weeknd has dropped his song for the soundtrack to “Avatar: The Way of Water.” The dramatic song “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” was shared by the “Creepin” singer on the day the much-awaited film hit the theatres on Friday, 16th December, 13 years after the first movie.

The Weeknd has already enjoyed tremendous success with his film work. His 2014 song “Earned It” from the “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack earned him a Grammy award and an Oscar nomination.

His most significant soundtrack appearance to date, “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength),” serves as the theme for the eagerly awaited sequel ”Avatar: The Way of Water”. The opulent song, co-written and co-produced by Abel’s Swedish House Mafia friends, is a perfect fit for the task, including booming drums and anthem-like backing vocals.

The original film score by the late great James Horner and the new music by Simon Franglen, who took over the project after Horner’s passing in a plane crash in 2015, are featured in “Avatar: The Way of Water.”

In addition to newcomer Kate Winslet, the movie includes returning performers Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Zoe Saldana.

Recognizing his charitable work, he received the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award during Canadian Music Week recently.
