J-Hope gears up for mandatory military enlistment in South Korea

J-Hope gears up for mandatory military enlistment in South Korea

BTS star J-Hope is gearing up for mandatory military service in South Korea. J-Hope follows the path of his 30-year-old bandmate Jin, who enlisted in the military in December. The other members—RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook aim to complete their service depending on their plans.

BigHit Music, the K-pop group’s record label, revealed on Sunday that J-Hope, real name Jung Ho-Seok, 29, had started the recruitment process.

“We would like to inform our fans that J-Hope has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement,” BigHit said in a statement on Weverse.

“We will inform you of further updates in due course. We ask you for your continued love and support for J-Hope until he completes his military service and safely returns. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artist.”

Once they have all completed their service, BTS, presently working on solo projects, is anticipated to come back together in 2025.

All physically fit South Korean men between the ages of 18 and 28 must serve for around two years.

Meanwhile, J-Hope also revealed that his new single, ‘On The Street,’ will release on March 3.

“On the street refers to J-hope’s roots — street dancing — from which his dream to become an artist began. The single also traces the path the artist and fans will continue to walk together,” according to the official statement.

“We hope that J-Hope’s On The Street is a meaningful gift to everyone who supports the artist. Please look forward to J-Hope’s new song,” the statement added.
