‘Biba’ to bring the world of Marshmello and Pritam together!

The master of Cutesy Bass, Marshmello firmly carved his place in the 2nd most populated country in the world, India, with his international collaboration named Biba, an East-West crossover with Indian musicians Pritam and Shirley Setia. The song was published on YouTube by Mashmello on Jan. 31, 2019.

MARSHMELLO AND PRITAM TOGETHER

THE ANNOUNCEMENT

He made the audience go in a frenzy when he took to Twitter and shared a tweet of Daler Mehndi’s ‘Tunak Tunak’ with the audio of his new upcoming single using ‘#Biba’. The end credits of the 16 seconds long clip featured Indian music composer Pritam’s name along with Indo-Kiwi singer Shirley Setia. Setia hit the road to stardom via her singing on YouTube. He dropped the single as a joined force with Pritam and Shirley.

While some fans were clearly excited about the announcement and already rooting their hopes on this track, some were utterly intrigued with the news and not sure what to feel about it. Some wanted Marshmello to give his version of Daler Mehendi’s ‘Tunak Tunak.’  Some even considered it as a proposition by music giant T-series to get ahead in the YouTube subscribers’ war.

SPACE BEHIND PRODUCTION

With Marshmello’s trademark, Synth sounds, playing in the backdrop of guitar strumming along with some powerful male vocals from singers Pardeep Singh Sran and Dev Neg made the song a delightful hear. The song was co-composed by Pritam, and adding the feminine touch is Shirley Setia. The single is sure to be massive and is ready to hit the dance floors from Los Angeles to Bombay. Biba also has a strong Bass line to complement the soft vocals.

Marshmello explained what he wanted to achieve with this single; he said,

“I went to India for the first time ever a few years ago, and I had no clue how much it would change me,” Marshmello is quoted in a press release. “The amount of love, strength, and compassion the people of India have is remarkable. I’ve never been somewhere where I felt so appreciated and loved by so many, and from that moment on, it became one of my favorite places. I always wanted to do something for the culture. When I connected with Pritam, I told him we have to do something fun together, something that makes you want to get up and dance, and I think ‘Biba’ is perfect for that.”

Further his manager Moe Shalizi, highlighted Marshmello’s love for Bollywood. That is why he wanted to pay a tribute to his Indian fans by creating an Indian single. He emphasized, Mello, desired to create music that was authentic to India. He wanted to become a part of Indian culture – not just feature in it. Music in India is progressing, it is more risk driven, it’s becoming more artist-centric, and it’s becoming more international. ‘Biba’ represents this spirit of progressing music scene in India.

THE SONG

Artist Originals, a label that focuses on bridging the gap between Western and Indian audiences released the song under their label. The same label is responsible for Dillon Francis’ remix of “Bom Diggy” originally sung by Zack Knight and Jasmin Walia.

Marshmello will be dropping the song during his India Tour in February. He is performing at VH1 Supersonic 2019.
The music video of BIBA is expected to be on floors by the next month. Till then, enjoy its lyrical video.
