The Indian singer Mika Singh was born and raised in Durgapur, West Bengal. Balbir Kaur, his mother, is a scholar of folk music, and his father Ajmer Singh is a classical musician. He is the younger brother of Daler Mehndi, a well-known Punjabi singer. The tabla, harmonium, and guitar were all instruments Mika learned at a young age.
