Padma Awardee “Kokila of Bihar” Sharda Sinha Passes Away at AIIMS, Delhi

Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, honored with the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, passed away on Tuesday evening at AIIMS, Delhi. The 72-year-old artist was known for her soulful renditions of traditional Bihari folk songs, particularly those celebrating the Chhath festival.

Health Decline and Hospitalization at AIIMS

Last month, Sharda Sinha’s health took a downturn, prompting her family to admit her to AIIMS in Delhi. Initially treated in the ICU, she showed some signs of improvement and was later moved to a private ward. Her family, friends, and fans were hopeful for her recovery, closely monitoring her health updates.

Critical Condition and Shift to Ventilator

On Monday evening, Sinha’s condition worsened dramatically due to an infection. Doctors had to place her on ventilator support. Her son, Anshuman, shared updates with her fans, expressing concern over her worsening condition. Despite efforts to revive her, Sharda Sinha remained unconscious and her health showed little response.

Just months before her own passing, Sharda Sinha faced the loss of her husband, who died from a brain hemorrhage. The couple had recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, making her passing even more poignant for her family and followers.
