Karan Veer Mehra, the winner of Bigg Boss 18, has responded to allegations of buying votes and support through paid media campaigns. In an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, the actor shared his thoughts on these claims, discussed his journey on the show, and reflected on his complex friendship with runner-up Vivian Dsena.
“I Wish I Had That Kind of Money”
Addressing accusations of manipulating votes through PR and media influence, Karan Veer Mehra dismissed the claims with humor. He said, “I wish I had that kind of money; I wouldn’t have needed to do this show. Imagine buying the media! But it’s like someone losing a race and making excuses like their shoelace opened. People will say all kinds of things—it’s all part of the game.”
A Friendship Put to the Test
Karan also spoke about his long-standing, 12-year friendship with Vivian Dsena, the show’s runner-up. Their bond, marked by highs and lows, added drama to the season. “Accha ladka hai (He’s a good boy). Towards the end, we were so nervous that we found our friendship again. But now that I’ve won, I don’t know where he stands. Usse pucho relationship status kya hai (Ask him about our relationship status),” he joked.
Revisiting His Journey
Tagged as “The Karan Veer Mehra Show” by fans, the actor recalled his emotional journey and unwavering determination. “I have always aimed for the best. Life hasn’t been easy—I’ve faced rejection and seen my friends succeed ahead of me. But I’ve kept going, and my fans’ support has brought me this far. I hope to achieve even more,” he shared.
Criticism and Strategy
When asked about criticism for his subdued presence during the initial stages of the game, Karan explained, “I didn’t want to get involved in petty fights early on. I was focusing on building personal connections. Midway, I realized I could fall behind, so I stepped up. But I’ve been part of the game from day one.”
The Salman Khan-hosted reality show concluded with Vivian Dsena and Rajat Dalal as the first and second runner-up, respectively. For Karan Veer Mehra, winning Bigg Boss 18 was not just about a trophy—it was about proving himself and inspiring others.
